Tuition is by Mark Johnston , 12th Dan ,shidoshi, with assistant instructors Bob Surman , 7th Dan, and Steve Cooley , 7th Dan.
Mark has been training since 1989 and has been running the Banbury club since 1992.
I began my journey into the Bujinkan after many years of other martial art training, which left me feeling unfulfilled. I then decided it was time to find the martial art that had interested me since childhood. After some searching, found that I could train at seminars every few weeks in Burton but wanted something more regular. I then found a club in Milton Keynes run by Jonny Smith , which was close enough to travel to every week and thats how the journey began.
We are a Part of the Koshin Dojo in Cirencester run by David Oliver to pull together like minded budoka.
I have trained at various Taikai held by the Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi as well as training regularly in Japan.
The club has been running for 17 years .
Assistant instructors Bob and Steve;
Bob has been training for 13 years and has reached 6th Dan,
Steve for 12 years and has also reached the level of 6th Dan.
We have taught self defence seminars to members of the public and corporate sector for teambuilding as well as store security, doormen, bodyguards, and police (including SO/CO , DPG and Royal Protection Officers).
As well as teaching within the security industry , I have worked extensively within the industry for many years as a Close Protection Officer and Head doorman of nightclubs .
